Quickplay Media is the industry leader in delivering next generation OTT solutions. It’s latest collaboration with Google Cloud, as partners aimed to harness the power of generative AI to create new opportunities for user engagement, discovery and monetisation for the media and entertainment industry.

With HumanX as the design partner, Quickplay delivered innovative, industry-first concepts at IBC 2023 (International Broadcasting Convention) in Amsterdam. We crafted and brought to life a fully functioning model, showcasing the magic of combining voice commands, large language models (LLMs), and Quickplay’s CMS to dive into a world of seamless discovery and engagement like never before.

The Challenge

Empowering viewers - AI’s solution to overwhelming OTT choices

Navigating through the endless choices on OTT platforms to find the perfect show or movie can be like searching for a needle in a haystack which leaves users overwhelmed. With compelling reasons to stay engaged, the OTT experience often falls short of its potential.

Goal

1. Improve Discovery

Our goal was to make content discovery effortless with AI-powered voice commands ensuring personalised recommendations tailored to each user’s preferences.

2. Enhance Engagement

We also aimed to boost engagement to foster user retention and enhance the experience of the platform. By giving users more control to personalise their experience, we empower them to consume content on their terms.

Using Generative AI, we designed a conversational chat interface backed by voice commands that humanises the experience

PERSONALISED RECOMMENDATIONS

We curate recommendations based on user preferences, watch history, feedback, leveraging machine learning to display the most relevant content to each user

TOPIC BASED DISCOVERY

Users get recommendations based topics such as weather, holidays, current events and more to assist with content discovery

PERSONALITY BASED DISCOVERY

Gamified the experience to discover content - suggesting relevant recommendations that are tailored to a user’s personality type
